Lab Technician

Lab technicians at Southwest Prosthetics are responsible for fabricating prosthetic limbs to our prosthetists’ specifications. This fabrication involves creating/sculpting plaster molds of residual limbs, heating/pulling flexible plastics, laminating carbon fiber shells, and assembling/aligning prosthetic leg components. Our lab maintains a relatively fast pace production rate, supplying prosthetics for all four of our clinics. RESPONSIBILITIES:

– Design prosthetic devices

– Make, modify plaster casts of areas that will be fitted with prostheses for use in the device construction process

– Select materials components to be used, based on device design

– Repair, rebuild, and modify prosthetics

– Research new ways to construct and use prosthetic devices

– Make casts, measurements, and model modifications

– May supervise laboratory activities relating to development of prosthesis

– Ensure lab is tidy and organized

– Update skills and knowledge by attending conferences

QUALIFICATIONS:

– Previous experience in the healthcare industry

– Experience fabricating prosthetics

Job Type: Full Time

Schedule: Mon-Friday, 9-5pm
